Sleeping Beauty

Jessica did really well yesterday. The procedure took about 1 hour and then we stayed an hour after so they could monitor her. She was really sleepy when they brought her in, but came around about 15 minutes later. We drove home as soon as they discharged her...6 hours later, we're home!

MRI in Montreal

It's been awhile since I've updated Jessica's blog..sorry. We left home right after work on Wednesday and arrived at Steve's parent's house. Jessica was excited to see nanny and grampa and then went to bed pretty fast. The rest of us stayed up to watch some of the Olympics...GO CANADA GO!!!

This morning we left Ottawa early because the weather wasn't the best. We got here in plenty of time to register and grab some lunch. Jessica enjoyed her chicken wrap and steve enjoyed his vanilla shake...hehe, no wait..other way around :)

We met with the doctors who will be putting jessica to sleep for her MRI. Looks like it will be pretty quick and hopefully we can head home right after that. We won't know the results for a couple of weeks, but I'll keep you posted!

Germany Brings Jessica HOPE!!

Jessica is a 4 1/2 year old doing her best to play, communicate and access the world. The best thing that Jessica has going for her right now is all the resources that are helping her to reach her potential. Now there is the possibility that Adult Stem Cells may help raise that potential. We are remaining realistic in that we realized the this isn't going to make Jessica "magically" walk and talk but there is a great chance it will help her in areas such as lowering her spasticity (which is problematic for her balance when sitting) and decrease her drooling (which is problematic for her aspiration). There are never any guarantees, but after careful consideration, we feel that if there is any possibility that there will be an increase in Jessica's quality of life...it's WORTH IT!!!

I was starting a list of people and businesses that have helped out in all the fundraisers and realized that there were so many people that have contributed/donated to these events. The list was getting so big and I was afraid to have missed someone. Not only has our community come together, but also other communities like Richmond and Stittsville who were instrumental in raising a large amount towards Jessica's Journey. Just listing your names here isn't "THANK YOU" enough for what you have done for our daughter. Some of you have chosen to remain anonymous...we don't know who you are, but want you to know how much we appreciate your hope and help for Jessica.
